Getting Started
Congratulations on purchasing your pup’s very own Doggy Bathroom! Getting started is very simple – before you know it, your pup will be enjoying all the benefits and independence of their private ensuite. Keep reading for 6 easy steps to getting started.
1. Think about where you want to install your Doggy Bathroom and commit. We recommend avoiding changing it around if you can help it until your dog is fully trained.
2. Install your Doggy Bathroom in the desired location. Let your dog sniff it and grow accustomed to its presence. Familiarise your dog with it by placing them inside and rewarding them with a treat after they use it.
3. Attract your dog to the Doggy Bathroom. Doggy Bathroom’s signature pee pads are made with an attractant to encourage your pup to use it. Feel free to place one of your dog’s own used pee pads inside - or better yet, another dog’s used pee pad to help introduce the scent. If a used pee pad doesn't entice your doggy to enter the enclosure, place a pee pad nearby and gradually move it closer and closer until it’s completely inside the Doggy Bathroom.
4. Don’t let your dog sit or lie down in it as they might think it’s a crate. Don’t feed them treats while they are inside the Doggy Bathroom either - only reward them with treats after they exit and have used it.
5. If you use a command for potty time, signal them to pee in the Doggy Bathroom by using your keyword command while directing them to the Doggy Bathroom.
6, If they are still hesitant to go all the way in, separate the Base from the Enclosure.
Place a pee pad on the bottom of the Base and continue your training using just the Base. Once they get used to the Base, then introduce the Enclosure.
Remember, this process may take some time and effort from both you and your doggy. But once they get it, the benefits will be great! Patience is key. If you have any more questions, please feel free to email info@doggybathroom.com for more personalized tips!

Familiarize Your Dog With The Doggy Bathroom
For smaller dogs and young puppies, finding their way inside the Doggy Bathroom should be simple since the entrance of the Doggy Bathroom is easily recognizable for any dog. Our pee pads are also made with an attractant to entice your pup to use it. After a play session or shortly after your puppy eats or drinks, lead them inside the Doggy Bathroom to help them associate it with potty time. Some smaller puppies eliminate between 5 to 30 minutes after drinking, making this the perfect time to test out their new ensuite!
Lead them to the Doggy Bathroom and let them freely explore the unit uninterrupted until they feel comfortable inside. You can also place your pup inside the Doggy Bathroom periodically throughout the day so that they can become accustomed to it.
Be sure to gently encourage your pup to enter their new bathroom without forcing them in. You can use a happy high pitch voice to praise them and don't forget to reward your best friend with treats once they successfully use the Doggy Bathroom!
As stated by @lifewithlouie1025 on Instagram, “Time along with patience and lots of treats will get you there “
Good luck and enjoy the journey!
Introduce The Scent
Many Doggy Bathroom owners have found success in layering a used pee pad underneath a new one. This is due to the enzymes found in the used pee pads which become an attractant to encourage your pup to leave their mark. Combined with the signature attractant found in our custom pee pads, your pup will be encouraged to use their Doggy Bathroom whenever the urge strikes.
Let Them Mark Their Territory
Have you ever noticed that your dog tends to always go in the same spot?
That’s because they’ve marked their territory and are searching for their scent. In fact, the enzymes found in the scent becomes another attractant to encourage your pup to go back to the same spot.
This same routine can be achieved with the Doggy Bathroom. Once they’ve left their scent, then the Doggy Bathroom is officially marked as their own and they’ll use it more and more often.
Another useful tip that Doggy Bathroom owners have found success from is by getting another dog to use the Doggy Bathroom. This will encourage your pup to go over and leave their mark as well.
"It took a few days for Remy to realize and feel comfortable to go in the Doggy Bathroom. After I put a used pee pad inside it made all the difference!" - Darlene G.
As always, once your pup successfully uses the Doggy Bathroom, be sure to reward them with treats and lots of cuddles!
Reward Good Behaviour
Reward your dog each time after using the Doggy Bathroom to turn it into a habit. Try using command phrases like “go potty” or “get busy” or even “Doggy Bathroom” offering positive reinforcement and giving them lots of praise and treats when your dog uses their Doggy Bathroom. As time goes by, keep up the praise but decrease the treats so that your pup doesn’t become reliant on them.
"Really love this product!!! Took my George and Carlin a few days to warm up to it, but after some encouragement (and lots of treats) they took to it." - Loren C
7 Ways to Train Your Dog to Use the Doggy Bathroom
Congratulations! If you’re reading this, you’re likely the proud owner of a brand new Doggy Bathroom. This is an exciting step for both you and your pup, giving them the independence to use the bathroom easily when they naturally need to. While your dog is getting used to its Doggy Bathroom, here are seven easy ways to train your dog to use the Doggy Bathroom.
1 - Let them mark their territory
Have you ever noticed that when you go on a walk, your dog tends to always go in the same spot? That’s because they’ve marked their territory and are searching for their scent. This same routine can be achieved with the Doggy Bathroom. Once they’ve left their scent, then the Doggy Bathroom is officially marked as their own and they’ll use it over and over again.
2 - Layer your pee pads
For the stubborn dog, we’ve had success when we layered a used pee pad underneath a new one, leading your furry friend to the scent when it’s their time to go. This will encourage your dog to use their Doggy Bathroom but ensure that their paws are only on top of a fresh pee pad.
3 - Help your doggy get inside
For smaller dogs and young puppies, finding their way inside the Doggy Bathroom might be your first hurdle. After a long walk or shortly after a puppy eats or drinks, lead them to the Doggy Bathroom to encourage them to use it. Some smaller puppies eliminate between 5 to 30 minutes after drinking, making this the perfect time to try out their new ensuite.
4 - Start with the base first
While your puppy is small, using just the base with a pee pad can help them get used to using the Doggy Bathroom. Gradually, as your dog grows and becomes more accustomed to it, you can add on the enclosure and give them the full Doggy Bathroom experience.
5 - Switch out the pee pads
While you’ll want this to be a temporary solution to ensure your Doggy Bathroom stays easy to clean, switching out the pee pads with a patch of grass or turf may help make the transition from outside to inside easier by giving them a more familiar texture under their paws at the start.
6 - Reward your pup’s good behaviour
Rewarding your dog for using the Doggy Bathroom might be just the trick you need to turn it into a habit. By using phrases like “go potty”, offering positive reinforcement and giving the occasional treat when your dog uses their Doggy Bathroom will help turn it into a habit. As time goes by, keep up the praise but decrease the treats so that the pup doesn’t become reliant on them.
7 - Plan a puppy party
Dogs tend to be territorial animals. Invite a few of your furry friends over for a puppy party and one of the dogs is bound to wander over to the Doggy Bathroom and give it a go. Your puppy will be attracted to the other dog’s scent and will find its way over to it as well. Hopefully, after the paw-ty is finished, your dog will continue to use their Doggy Bathroom regularly.
