Doggy Bathroom Wins “Doing Business Together” Award in OSEntreprendre Challenge.
Québec, Canada - In its 23rd year, the OSEntreprendre Challenge honours businesses in the 17 regions of Québec, shining the spotlight on their achievements at the local and regional levels. Representing Montréal, we are proud to announce that Doggy Bathroom has been selected as the Regional Winner of the Doing BusinessTogether section of the OSEntreprendre Challenge.
In the category’s inaugural year, the Doing Business Together award highlights businesses that are changing their purchasing practices to prioritize dealing with local suppliers and helping to build a proud, innovative, committed and prosperous Québec. Doggy Bathroom was recognized for this award for our efforts over the last year in bringing our manufacturing to Canada from overseas.
Doggy Bathroom is fortunate to have support on both municipal and provincial levels which have aided in the development of our products and our company’s growth. One of the most exciting parts of being involved with OSEntreprendre is being able to meet other entrepreneurs to learn their stories and make connections to potentially work with them in the future.
Made in Québec, Made in Canada
It has always been our company’s goal to manufacture our products in Canada. When Doggy Bathroom began evaluating production costs in 2018 they were simply too expensive in North America for a start-up company like ours, which is why we initially sourced a manufacturer overseas. After a successful Kickstarter launch in 2019, where we met and exceeded our goals in less than 45 days, followed by two years of solid growth, we decided that the next important step for Doggy Bathroom was to bring our manufacturing to Canada. The COVID-19 pandemic also factored into our company’s decision as we felt it was a great way for us to give back to our community by creating employment and helping to generate growth in the local economy.

I come at this from a design background, so I’ve spent a lot of years in my career sourcing products from abroad because we didn't have them here. But everything that was made in Canada always came with quality, pride, and craftsmanship.” shared founder, Alain Courchesne.
After researching a number of factories, we decided to move forward with a local company that we had initially reached out to in 2018. Since the Doggy Bathroom is made out of three moulds, one of them weighing three tonnes, it was very important to find a factory with the capabilities and expertise to accommodate our production cycles and any retooling needs. While there is a premium in pricing compared to manufacturing overseas, being able to have the engravings redone and labelled “Made in Canada” has been a very proud achievement for the entire Doggy Bathroom team.
